DHH is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life through the provision of non-medical support for those affected by or caring for an individual with a life-threatening illness, as well as bereavement support.
Unfortunately these days, children and teens are often thrown into the role of caregivers as we see life-threatening illnesses impact younger families. Also, children and teens are facing bereavement more frequently, whether through family illness, teen suicide, accidents, or other traumatic events.
Being able to use Art Therapy when working with children and teens, allows the student to safely relay their deepest fears, anxieties, and grief through their art, which opens the door to conversations and therapeutic growth.
The Hospice’s Bereavement Coordinator / Art Therapist offers either one-to-one sessions or group work for students experiencing anticipatory grief or bereavement. Students may be referred from the Guidance Department at the school or families may contact Doane House Hospice directly.

Art Therapy is a different approach to traditional talk therapy, where participants can use the art process to express thoughts and feelings they may not know how to otherwise express.
