Visiting Volunteers

Imagine a quiet place you can visit each week, removed from your routine and a refuge from the world. Just as the program name suggests, Oasis is a place to relax and be refreshed.

Becoming involved with Oasis is as simple as calling to arrange an assessment by one of our professional staff. As with all programs, Oasis is free of charge and open to anyone with a life-threatening illness who is mobile, cognitive and responsible for his or her own personal care needs and medication. The house is walker and wheelchair friendly and should transportation be needed, volunteer drivers can be arranged.

Clients meet weekly at the Doane House in Newmarket with other clients, a professional staff and trained volunteers. The recently restored historic Doane House provides a warm and friendly atmosphere where participants in the Oasis Program can enjoy activities, refreshments and the company of each other.

All activities are individualized to the interests of the participants and might include massage therapy, reflexology, Yoga, speakers, card games, painting, and a host of other programs should they be desired by the clients. Sometimes the clients prefer to sit quietly or chat with their friends or our volunteers.

Come and join us for coffee and refreshments!
